I WOULD like to respond to the residents (Evening Post, November 17) who suggested that the Cyrenians hostel at Paxton Street is a magnet for drug-taking and antisocial behaviour in the Sandfields area of Swansea.

In fact, as has been acknowledged by the police, local councillors and the Sandfields Pact meeting which took place a week ago, the recent rise in drug-dealing and antisocial behaviour has been directly attributable to unregulated and unmanaged HMOs (Houses in Multiple Occupation) in the area. One such HMO in Paxton Street was recently cleared by the police and was found to have copious needles and drug paraphernalia in every room.
