THOUSANDS of workers could be left "badly out of pocket" by companies that tempt people to leave generous final-salary pension schemes in exchange for a cash lump sum, the Pensions Minister has warned.
Steve Webb said he was worried and angered by reports that people were being offered "superficially attractive deals" if they downgraded to less generous pension schemes. People are being offered a short-term benefit such as a cash payment, often of several thousand pounds, if they transfer their accrued pension rights from a final-salary scheme into a defined-contribution one.See the full content of this document
