BOSSES at Swansea University have welcomed suggestions from the Welsh Government that the institution should collaborate closer with its Cardiff counterpart. Minister for Education and Skills Leighton Andrews has suggested the two seats of learning combine their talents in the fields of research and teaching. As he undertakes a review of higher education in Wales the minister pointed to recommendations by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, which said: "Swansea University should maintain its aim of developing as a research intensive university, and strengthen key research and teaching partnerships with Cardiff."
