STAFF at an animal centre battled to save a seal pup found abandoned by its mother off the coast of West Wales.

But, despite surviving the journey from St David's to Swansea, the young creature died of its injuries just 20 minutes after arriving at the RSPCA Llys Nini Animal Centre in Penllergaer.
