Summary


When We Were Young WE lived very near to fields and woods And never ran out of games We'd never heard of high rise flats So to us all children lived the same. A fallen tree instantly became A galleon sailing in the Spanish main Errol Flynn leaped from branch to branch As a slight breeze suddenly became a hurricane.

We climbed many trees, fell off quite a few And collected chestnuts and conkers aplenty Fell in the nettles hunted for "doc" leaves And limped home legs full of lumps and feeling silly.
