MY mother lives in sheltered accommodation and we were shocked to learn that articles had to be removed from communal areas (Pensioners told to move 'fire hazard' plants and pictures, Post, October 6).

These elderly people have had to leave their own homes to live in these sheltered flats. It is bad enough that they have to face depressing corridors with dowdy carpets, grey walls and skirtings to reach their front doors, never mind not to be allowed to de- institutionalise their surroundings with pleasant items.
