Summary
IT might be the butt of a slew of New York jokes but New Jersey has more than made its contribution to popular culture; Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Patti Smith, Danolectro guitars and the less celebrated, but enjoyable Dean Friedman. With songs ranging from cutesy pop jingles about an unrequited romance which goes on over the counter at his local McDonald's outlet, to earnest and uncynical songs of love, divorce and parenting, Dean's style lies somewhere between Randy Newman, Billy Joel and Tom Lehrer and his live shows retain the conversational air of a family reunion.
