; Mining Tragedy: Ascortege of Fallen Gleision Miner Passes Through the Village

Summary


A SWANSEA Valley community came to a standstill to remember the life of one of their own who was killed in the Gleision mine tragedy. The road through Cwmtwrch was closed for the funeral of Garry Jenkins, and hundreds of people paid their respects to the fallen man at the village's Beulah Chapel.

Among the floral tributes carried alongside the coffin was one from his son Alex that read simply: "To my Dad, Goodnight, God Bless, Love you forever, Alex Jenkins".
