I have to say, I find it frankly unbelievable that any heroin addict would be persuaded to give up the drug if they know that the state is going to provide them with heroin, and free of charge too! Surely such a brainless act would effectively be giving legitimacy to its use? A step towards the legalisation of this terrible drug, possibly? Why should heroin addicts be singled out for such special privileges from the state? Why not people with alcohol or gambling addictions? Or cocaine users? Ifor Glynn correctly states that use of this terrible drug continues to increase sharply locally, with referrals up by a shocking 54 per cent last year.
