IF we need any indication of the state of our health service, then it is only necessary to look at what happened during the past weekend when one of our local parishioners passed away.

Needing a doctor to certify that the person was deceased, the family phoned their GP and were told that no doctors were available during the weekend. This left the family with no option but to phone the hospital, and for the body to be transported there to be certified dead, before being taken back home.
