GOWER is no stranger to receiving praise for its stunning landscape and picturesque beaches, but now the area's residents have been recognised for the warm welcome they give tourists The beauty spot has added to its long list of media awards and recognition with inclusion in the 2009 top 10 friendliest holiday destinations in the UK -- and the only Welsh destination to make the list.

Bournemouth, Brighton and Eastbourne are among the others to make the top 10. The award is recognition for the overall visitor experience on Gower, rather than just the beaches and picnic spots for which the area regularly wins awards.
