WITH so much rain about recently, there was one creature more noticeable -- the slug! Although they look slimy and have no legs, it does have a gigantic foot under its body. If you watch a slug move, it appears to glide along, but it has muscles on its underside that pull it along, the slime it leaves makes it easier to move, it also helps it to stop falling off if moving up walls or plants.

Slugs are just snails that evolved without a shell. Birds make tasty meals from slugs and snails, how many times have you discovered a snail shell intact, but no snail inside? That is because birds drop snails from a height to break the shell, then eat the soft insides.
