READING the report in the Post on Saturday,February 6 "Letter threat over hospital smoking row", and the editorial comment the same day, prompted me to recall the recent holiday my wife and I spent in Japan in November/December last year.
We discovered a total ban on smoking -- which was in complete contrast to my last visit nearly 50 years ago, when almost 90 per cent of the adult population smoked. Not only is there a complete ban on smoking in enclosed premises, shops, offices, hotels, restaurants, museums and galleries, but also in the streets and parks, except for strategically placed smoking points.See the full content of this document
