IF you subscribe to the view that there are no bad cars built any more you'll probably like the MG6. It's a strange blend of simple and sophisticated and while not hugely British in feel, it drives very well and offers something to buyers who don't hanker after enormous complexity.

Rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the eerily deserted Longbridge plant is a small outpost of defiance. This place once thronged with thousands of workers building Austins but the inexorable decline through the British Leyland years, the abortive collaborations with Honda and BMW, the financial scandal of the reborn Rover and finally the sale of the design rights and tooling to China reduced Longbridge to a ghost town.
