Ten years ago, as former Swansea City owners Silver Shield put the finishing touches to their bid to create the Black Swans and bring Super League to South Wales, RFL bosses conducted a recce of the area.

Wigan Warriors defeated St Helens 36-2 in front of 8,572 spectators at Vetch Field in July 1998 - one of six Super League roadshows in which league fixtures were played out in "development" parts of the country.
