WILLIAM Jones is quite right to say that the fact that, in 2009, HSBC did two and a half percent of its business in Welsh is unbiased evidence. It is, of course, evidence of just what a high cost in taxes it is to cater for such a small minority of people in Wales.
In countries like France and Germany, signs in English are for people who do not speak French or German. In Wales, where English is not only the common language but is also spoken and understood by everyone, signs and literature in Welsh, duplicating English, are quite an unnecessary additional cost to the huge majority of non Welsh-speaking taxpayers.See the full content of this document
