Good News As Rally Gb Gets Assembly Backing ; Event Will Be Staying in Wales Motorsport
ALTHOUGH the Rally Great Britain was won by Citroen C4 WRC driver Sebastien Loeb after a battle with Ford Focus WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen, the highlight was that the Welsh Assembly Government had reached an agreement with organisers to resume sponsorship of the event for 2010. Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "When doubts emerged over the rally's status in 2010, we moved to protect our contractual position and taxpayers' money.
Club's Events Among Top Ones in Britain
PORT Talbot Motor Club's major special stage events have been included in the top national championships in Britain in 2010, despite major changes to both series. The Pro-Art Signs Swansea Bay Rally runs on July 17 as round four in the 2010 MSA Gravel Rally Championship. It is based in the city and uses World Championship stages in the forests of the Neath and Afan Valleys. The Fix-Auto National Tour of Epynt Rally will run over the Epynt Ranges on March 14.
THE Clarence Terrace car park opposite Swansea's Quadrant bus station hosts an indoor classic car show tomorrow from 10.30am- 3.30pm in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. Admission will be Pounds 2, all proceeds going to the worthy cause. Every visitor will receive a free scale model courtesy of Oxford Diecast of Swansea, who will also be showing their collectors' models.

Schoolboys Off to a Good Start
SWANSEA Schoolboys played their first tie of the DC Thomas Cup against visiting Vale of Glamorgan in front of a large crowd at Morriston RFC. In the first half, Swansea started strongly and dominated possession, keeping Vale firmly pinned back in their own 22.
